Directions to my apartment

My actual address is 3120 John Olsen Ave., Apartment 4-104, Hillsboro, OR. You might be able to find it using just the address, but it may not be easy. If you would like to try, here is an easy link to Google maps and another to Yahoo maps, whichever floats your boat.

The easy part:

Getting to John Olsen.

If you live in Hillsboro or Beaverton: Get on Cornell and head in whichever direction would take you towards 206th street. John Olsen is effectively the same street; 206th becomes John Olsen as it crosses Cornell. When you reach the intersection of 206th, John Olsen, and Cornell, turn north onto John Olsen.
If you're coming in from Portland: Get on Highway 26 (aka the Sunset Highway) heading west. Take exit 64 (Tanasbourne/Rock Creek) and then take a left at the top of the exit ramp to cross the highway. Get into the right lane and take a right on Evergreen when you come to it. Follow Evergreen until you reach John Olsen, then take a left. It'll be a bit under a mile, and it's the fourth light after you get on Evergreen.

The slightly harder part:

Actually finding my apartment.

The apartment complex to look for is called Landmark. The signs indicating which of the many turnoffs it is could really have been made bigger or more obvious. Here they are:

Now, the tricky bit is finding my building. There are 30 different buildings, all listed as 3120 John Olsen, and I am in building 4. There is no handy map at the entrance, nor are there huge, friendly signs pointing the way. To make it extra tricky, there are two driveways to the apartment complex and building 4 is between them, so you need to turn left or right depending on which entrance you came in through. Here is a picture I took of the map given me when I moved in (North is the left side of the map):

My apartment is number 4-104 (circled in blue pen on the above image), and it is on the ground floor, which in this case is actually sunken 3 steps down. The apartment is actually really easy to find once you find the right building. For whatever reason, all the other apartments have a 3 inch by 5 inch sign with their number on it, but my apartment has a gigantic 1 foot by 1 foot sign pointing to it, which you can see here:

The last part:

Parking.

The cul-de-sac that buildings 3 and 4 are on has parking along it, but it is almost always full. My advice is to take whatever parking you find between the two entrances to the complex. I have never not been able to find parking somewhere in that area. Just don't park in any of the covered spots, they are reserved. Anything else is fair game.

See you soon!
